Discover Itapuã

A former whale fishing village, Itapuã is a place full of magic and charms. They say that here there is a rock that snores and a lagoon, the Abaeté lagoon, that swallows people. The neighborhood has always been a source of inspiration and a favorite haunt for artists. Vinicius, Dorival Caymmi, Caetano Veloso and many others sang the beauty of Itapuã in their verses.

K Street Beach

This paradisiacal stretch of Itapuã beach is only a 10-minute walking from the hotel. There you will find the famous Pedra que Ronca, legendary rock formation of the neighborhood, besides several natural pools, where the visitor can practice snorkeling, standup and kayak.

Casa Vinicius de Moraes

Casa Di Vina is the house where one of the great icons of Brazilian culture, Vinicius de Moraes, lived in Bahia. Enchanted by the diversity of the land and rocked by his love for the actress Gessy Gesse, Vinicius moved to Itapuã in the early 1970's, and lived a very inspired phase of his life there.

Preserved in its original architecture, the house today houses the Casa di Vina Memorial, where objects, photos, and documents of the couple's history and of the little known passage of the poet through Bahia are exhibited. During the visit one can also appreciate old sculptures and tiles by the artist Udo Knoff, and the panel painted by Bel Borba in honor of Vinicius' friendship with the painter Calasans Neto.

The artistic intervention in the space is inspired in the stories told by Gessy Gesse in her book "Minha Vida com o Poeta" (My life with the Poet), and the collection was kindly lent by the actress.

Itapuã Lighthouse

A few meters from the hotel is one of the main postcards of the city: the Farol de Itapuã. In 1873, on top of Pedra da Piraboca, the engineer Zózimo Barrozo built this 21-meter high lighthouse, originally painted purple-earth, which emitted a fixed white light, thus facilitating the navigation of vessels that came from afar. It has the shape of a tower, all in cast iron. In 1939 it began to be painted in horizontal bands of white and orange, and in 1950 its painting was again changed to white and red, colors that it maintains until today.

Cira's Acarajé

Famous and awarded for her delicacies, Cira was the most traditional Bahian in Salvador. A gastronomic specialty of African and Afro-Brazilian cuisine, the Acarajé is a small cake made of broad bean paste, onion, and salt, fried in dende oil. It is a 3-minute drive from the hotel.

Dunes Park

This Unesco-recognized dune ecosystem is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. On the trail guided by a biologist, you can observe lakes, orchids, and animals such as yews and owls.

Abaeté Lagoon

Eternalized by Dorival Caymmi, the Abaeté Lagoon is one of Salvador's postcards. It is a five-minute drive from the hotel. Next to it is the Casa da Música, which gathers documents from the history of Bahian music.
